containers of bulk sugar and flour, from onions in a tub, and from tubs of ice cream.
MCL Cafeteria at the Muncie Mall was cited for three critical violations, including uncovered trays of food in a walk-in cooler, and undated containers of ready-to-eat food in a vegetable cooler.
Southside Middle School was cited for two critical violations. An employee sprayed chemical sanitizer on a cleaning rag that was used to clean a shelf above exposed food. In addition, cut vegetables, salad with diced ham and hard-boiled eggs, and cut fruits were being stored in the temperature danger zone.
Also cited for two critical violations were the Village Pantry at 603 W. Jackson St., where an employee's personal food item was stored in an ice-making bin and two employees' personal drinks were stored on a food preparation table, and Bob Evans, 1417 W. McGalliard Road, where plates soiled with food debris were stored under and in front of a grill, and there was a lack of chemical sanitizer in a dish washing machine and a three-compartment sink.
Other critical violations were found at:
Menards, 3401 N. Nebo Road, a carton of shell eggs was stored over cans of drinks in a reach-in cooler; Thai Kitchen, 1413 S. Walnut St., uncovered trays of sliced peppers and vegetables stored in a freezer; Applebee's, 1423 W. McGalliard Road, an employee used a sanitized rag to clean surfaces and did not change his gloves afterward; Marco's Pizza, 2501 N. Tillotson Ave., several gnats gathered near the drain in the three-compartment sink; and Outback Steakhouse, 3401 N. Granvile Ave., undated pans of ready-to-eat food stored in a cooler.
No violations were found at Taco Bell, 3201 N. Morrison Road; Village Pantry, 3301 N. Morrison Road; Anchor Lounge, 3535 S. Ebright St.; Fisher Meats, 2800 N. Walnut St.; Damask Café, 3201 W.
