Netherton in Shropshire is a village so remote that the steam train calls more frequently than the bus. Not the most promising place to start a business, you might think. But to the owners of Netherton Foundry, Neil and Sue Currie, it’s entirely appropriate.

Netherton is 20 miles from Ironbridge, the cradle of the Industrial Revolution, in an area where an abundance of iron ore, limestone and charcoal, combined with an easy route to Bristol down the River Severn, made the movement possible. Maybe it’s the history or just good karma, but Netherton’s simple, elegant pans are picking up an illustrious fan base, including Nigella Lawson, chef Jeremy Lee and Telegraph regulars Diana HenryDebora Robertson and Mark Diacono, all praising their robust functionality.
