The behaviour of a group of Chinese tourists has been heavily criticised after a video surfaced showing them frantically using plates as shovels to gather food at a hotel buffet in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The dish of choice was prawns, with one woman taking four full plates, while others were left to pick at the seafood with their hands.
It seems the tourist's eyes may have been bigger then their stomachs, subsequent photos showing a large portion of the food was wasted.

In the video, which has also been widely shared on Chinese social media, the hungry tourists are seen frenziedly jostling each other to get at the food and walking away with several plates of prawns.
Hotel staff were shocked when much of the food had to be carried away, uneaten.

One Facebook user said that this was much like a typical Chinese buffet restaurant.
'Chinese people need to be taught basic mannerism, so greedy about everything and rude,' he said.
Even some Chinese natives were appalled by the buffet brawl, but were quick to defend the behaviour.

The video of the Chinese tourists (pictured) appeared on Facebook on Saturday and has since amassed over 5 million views and attracted a number of scathing comments
'It is so humiliating! Not all Chinese people act this way. I have to say that most of the mainland Chinese no longer behave like this,' a Chinese woman wrote.
But others weren't so forgiving.
'So disgusted to watch this kind of behavior...this is what happens when parents don't teach their kids basic etiquette. They grow up to be....gosh no word to describe,' another user commented.
