A practical guide to the World Street Food Jamboree

It should be simple: There’s street food at the corner of Federacion Drive and 9th Avenue in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. There’s no entrance fee and it’s open until 11 p.m. What are you waiting for?

On opening day, some people were waiting in line…and the people outside the event perimeter saw the crowd and got put off. Overheard: “I saw some things I want to try, but I don’t want to wait 30 minutes to get it.”

If you don’t want to, you don’t have to, because most of the food at the jamboree are prepared quickly. Real average wait time in line would be less than 10 minutes.

If that still seems long, here are a few more things to consider before heading to make the most out of your trip to the World Street Food Jamboree.

How hungry are you?

The answer should be: You could eat, but you’re not “hangry” (angry out of hunger). You need to feel okay with waiting for seven people to get some Ayam Taliwang, not itching to get food so your stomach stops grumbling. This way, you also go to savor food—not wolf it down out of necessity!

You might also need to wait a little longer if you come in and the volume of people inside gets too big—the organizers might close the gates first and wait for the crowd to thin out.

What do you want to try today?

There are three more days of street food ahead, so consider what you want to try. Are you going there for desserts? Did you want to try some Hoy Tord?

To help you choose, here are your food options: COMPLETE LIST: What’s on the menu at the World Street Food Jamboree?

What should I try from each stall?

The good news is, each stall serves a maximum of two items and most of them actually just have one dish to offer. The line moves along quickly, because the stalls are just handing out the one or two dish they have!

Do you have change?

If you don’t want to be waiting around the stalls for your change or, if you’re nice mindful, you don’t want to hold up the line: Try to bring some P20s and P10s.

What drinks do they have?

Water, soda, and beer are for sale at the drink booths, but if you don’t want to have to lineup for it, it wouldn’t hurt to bring your own water container. It’s good for the environment and the money you’ll spend for drinks can go to more food!

What time should I be there?

Come in early and you might avoid a larger crowd (caveat: the crowd would always be large!). But if you come a little later in the evening, you’ll be treated to food demos and performances
