All you need to know, in news as brief as a tweet.

• Breakfast wizard Jesse McTavish has joined Pure South Dining, the Melbourne restaurant dedicated to all-Tasmanian produce. It re-opens in December after major renovations.

• Heading north, a new brewery in Preston has made itself small so its beer is fresher. Plus, they want you to take a one-litre can of the stuff home.

• Fashion label Tanner + Teague has opened a new concept store with a wine bar. Jet’s lead guitarist – now also a sommelier – is in charge of the wine list.

• Meanwhile, the gents who brought us Leonard’s House of Love have opened a new, smarter restaurant round the corner on Chapel Street.

• Over in Brunswick East, Lebanese restaurant Téta Mona is opening for lunch for the first time, with a wrap pop-up for summer.

• Stuck for Christmas gift ideas? The Craft & Co in Collingwood is hosting a Christmas Market. Put together a hamper filled with the distillery’s own gin, plus Victorian cheeses, meat, chocolate and more.

• After your Christmas shopping, check out Project 49, a new deli, wine bar and restaurant from Rocco Esposito, a former wine director for Vue de Monde.

• In case you missed it, Melbourne has a new rooftop bar. Get into some ‘70s and ‘80s-inspired cocktails, Palm Springs style, at Good Heavens.

• There’s a champagne festival on this weekend. And it’s in Melbourne. And it’s free.
